A Kangaroo court in Andhra’s Srikakulam district had ordered the revenge killing of a 33-year-old man for beating a 60-year-old man to death. Police have arrested 16 people, including village elders, for the double murder.
Andhra Pradesh Police discovered that a Kangaroo court in Srikakulam district had ordered the revenge killing of a man for beating a 60-year-old man to death. A total of 16 people were arrested by the police in connection with this incident.
According to Palakonda Deputy Superintendent of Police, M Sravani, the shocking double murder took place after a scuffle during a wedding on May 27 in Seethanpeta Mandal, Regulaguda.
During the ceremony, Padma, daughter of Savar Gaya (60) of the same village, was beaten with a stick by Savar Singanna (33) of Usirikipadu village.
Upon seeing this, Savar Gaya pushed Singanna to the ground. In retaliation, Singanna hit the old man with a stick as well, resulting in his death.
Angry over their father's death, the deceased’s sons nabbed Singanna and kept him hostage. Panicking, Singanna’s family approached the elders of the villagers, and a panchayat meeting was called to solve the dispute.
However, the Kangaroo court ruled that Singanna should also face death in a similar way for killing 60-year-old Savar Gaya. “You should die in the same way that Savar Gaya was killed. Otherwise, everyone in your house will be killed,” ordered the Kangaroo court.
They threatened Singanna’s family by stating that if they didn't cooperate, all of them would face a similar fate.
