
Kamal Haasan says Rajinikanth is 'politically different' on Thalaiva's exit from politics

Kamal Haasan was in Delhi on May 26 to promote his upcoming film Vikram. While speaking to the media, the actor spoke about Rajinikanth's exit from politics and his new film.
Kamal Haasan will soon be seen in the high-octane action drama, Vikram. The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil along with Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Antony Varghese and Arjun Das in supporting roles. Suriya also has a cameo in the film. Kamal Haasan spoke about his friend Rajinikanth's exit from politics and how Vikram is a 'responsible film' in a media interaction in Delhi on May 26.
When asked about working with Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi, Kamal Haasan said that the experience was like "a good meal best shared". "My guru Mr K Balachander taught me how to enjoy sharing the screen space and not to steal the show. Both the brothers were admirers of mine, so it felt like a felicitation," he added.
Kamal Haasan also opened up about his bond with friend of 40 years, superstar Rajinikanth. He said, "We do different kind of films. Sometimes we try to do the films the other one has done. He has done some serious films also but he doesn't do it anymore. I like to entertain the audience with a variety of films."
Speaking about his Moondru Mudichu co-star's exit from politics in December 2020, Haasan said Rajinikanth thinks "politically differently''. "I am a centrist. I have a different philosophy about people and politics," the actor, who heads political party Makkal Needhi Maiam, added.
Though not much has been revealed about plot of his upcoming film, Kamal Haasan described Vikram as a "responsible" film that was not a fairytale. "It's a responsible film, it's not only an entertaining film. It doesn't talk about fairy tales. It's a dark tale but we have a U/A certificate, hopefully we'll get it in Hindi as well," he said.
Kamal Haasan's production banner Raaj Kamal Films International has bankrolled the film. Vikram is scheduled to release worldwide on June 3.
Vikram is one of the most anticipated films of 2022. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the action thriller features Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles. The film is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International. Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Shivani Narayan and several others will be seen playing key roles in the film. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music for Vikram.
