Kajol, Reema Kagti invited to join Oscar committee, to represent India in Class of 2022

Kajol, Reema Kagti, and Suriya are amongst the 397 members invited to the prestigious Oscar committee. The list of new members was announced by the Academy on Tuesday.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited 397 artists and executives to join the Oscar organiser’s membership ranks. Amongst the class of 2022 are many famous personalities from India, including Kajol, Suriya and Reema Kagti. The class of 22 includes 71 Oscar nominees and 15 winners. 44 per cent of invitees are women whereas 37 per cent of the group belongs to underrepresented communities. The list of new members was announced by the Academy on Tuesday, June 28.
Bollywood actress Kajol, South Indian actor-producer Suriya and filmmaker-writer Reema Kagti are amongst the 397 artists and executives invited to join the Oscar committee. Many other Indian artists, including Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas, have been invited to join. Aditya Sood and PR and Marketing professional Sohini Sengupta are the other two Indians to be invited.
Other celebs among the 397 artists are Ariana DeBose, Billie Eilish, Jamie Dornan and Troy Kotsur, amongst others.

Other Indian celebs who are a part of the Academy include, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, AR Rahman, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Ali Fazal, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, and Ekta Kapoor.
