K-pop group SEVENTEEN, in an exclusive chat with India Today, opened up on their 7th anniversary. They also spoke about their album 'Face the Sun.'
K-pop group SEVENTEEN are currently basking in the glory of their hugely succesful 4th studio album, Face the Sun. With ‘Hot’ as their title track, SEVENTEEN are seen facing their fears with their 4th studio album. Woozi contributed to all the songs with input from other members as well. Speaking to IndiaToday.in, the 13-member team discussed their creative process and the biggest change they have seen amongst themselves as a group, along with their transition to stardom. They also reacted to the fan video cumulated by us and sealed the deal about visiting India for a concert soon.
The vocal unit leader of the group, Woozi, spoke about trying to meet CARATS expectations and said that the thought always crosses their minds. “I definitely do. CARATS' expectations are a huge factor we take into account through it all. A negative way of putting it would be 'pressure', but positively speaking, it means that there is 'anticipation' for what SEVENTEEN can create,” Woozi said.
‘To come to a consensus as a group is not a challenge anymore’
Group leader S Coups spoke about how they come to consensus and the importance of communication. “The fact that there are 13 of us, we do not consider it a barrier we have to overcome. We like to think of it as something that makes us better, an identity that enables greater diversity in our work and ideas. And we've learned to make decisions and compromises by talking to each other, through conversations. So, we don't find it a challenge to come to a consensus as a group, not at this point,” he added.
On the biggest change they have seen within the group since their debut 7 years ago, Joshua mentioned, “I think we are able to perform comfortably now, without worrying too much about making mistakes.”
The group has a huge list of achievements to their kitty but they continue to remain grounded. Their new album is already trending worldwide. From ‘Darl+ing’, ‘Hot’ to 'Don Quixote', 'March', 'Domino', 'Shadow', 'Bout you', 'If you leave me', 'Ash', the songs truly leave you with a fuzzy feeling. The music video for Hot also shows the group embracing their uniqueness and charming selves.
