K.C. Venugopal calls for stronger coordination between Congress and government in Telangana

AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal has emphasised the importance of coordination between the party and the government while highlighting the need to reward grassroots-level party workers with suitable nominated posts in the government. The party will soon make the appointments, said Congress senior leader and IT and Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
Addressing the media after the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Mr. Sridhar Babu stated that Mr. Venugopal had lauded the performance of the one-year Congress rule led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. “The PAC deliberated on strategies to counter the BJP-led Union government over the next four years. It also decided to organise protests against Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and launch the ‘Sanvidhan Bachao’ campaign,” he said. He further added that efforts to strengthen the party from the grassroots level by forming committees were discussed. Mr. Venugopal also appreciated the State government’s initiative to conduct a BC census and reviewed policies for gig workers and MSMEs, Mr. Sridhar Babu said.
Senior Congress leader and Adviser to the Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir noted that Mr. Venugopal had advised ministers to hold ‘Praja Darbar’ sessions at district headquarters to engage with party workers and the public. He also announced that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi would attend the ‘Sanvidhan Bachao’ programme between January 25 and 28. “Mr. Venugopal reiterated the importance of regular PAC meetings and fostering coordination between the PAC and the government. The current PAC will be continued until the new one is formed,” Mr. Shabbir Ali said.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC presdient Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers and other senior leaders attended the PAC meeting.
During the PAC meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy disclosed that local body elections in the State would be conducted soon. He announced that financial assistance under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, providing ₹12,000 per acre to farmers and ₹12,000 annually to landless farm labourer families, would be launched on January 26. New ration cards would also be issued on the same day.
Highlighting the government’s achievements, the Chief Minister said, “We have filled 55,143 government jobs in one year.” He added that loans worth ₹21,000 crore had been waived and ₹54,000 crore had been spent on farmers’ welfare over the past year. He also noted that the Assembly had convened a special session to condole the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and unanimously passed a resolution to confer the Bharat Ratna on him. Additionally, a flyover in the Old City was named after Manmohan Singh.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fulfilling pre-election promises. “We have been working tirelessly to implement assurances given to the people, starting from day one of assuming office,” he added.
