The jury has declared a verdict in the case of the two Aurora, Colorado paramedics charged in connection with the 2019 death of 23-year-old Elijah McClain.
The jury reached a verdict Friday in the case of the two Aurora, Colorado, paramedics charged in connection with the 2019 death of 23-year-old Elijah McClain.
Peter Cichuniec and Jeremy Cooper are accused of administering an excessive amount of ketamine to sedate McClain after an encounter with police on August 24, 2019.
Cooper and Cichuniec are charged with criminally negligent homicide, second-degree assault, and crimes of violence. Cichuniec is facing an additional charge of manslaughter, according to the indictment. Cichuniec ordered the ketamine, and Cooper injected it into McClain.
They both pleaded not guilty.
McClain was confronted by police while walking home from a convenience store after a 911 caller told authorities they had seen someone "sketchy" in the area.
