Monday marks the second time America has observed Juneteenth as a national holiday. It is the perfect day to celebrate the Black success we've seen since Emancipation.
If he were alive, Dr. Martin Luther King would likely argue that — while room to rise remains — his Dream has come true.
More important, the men in blue uniforms read General Order No. 3 to people who, until then, were private property: "All slaves are free." Henceforth, these Black men, women, and children belonged to themselves, not others.
