Started in September last year, community initiative Nineoeight have hosted a handful of shows in Bengaluru and Goa, all with an eye on the city’s “ever-evolving sonic identity”. For their upcoming edition at The Burrow, the talent pool expands further into experimental and trip-hop territory, featuring Gangtok-origin, city-based artist Yuhina, experimental artist Disco Puppet and bankable selector Daisho, alongside Nineoeight’s resident DJs warming up the crowd.
An event description from the organisers states, “Let us paint you a picture: ethereal meditative soundscapes, choppy layered harmonic ballads, genre flipping danceable grooves, bass first club shakers.” Nineoeight states that Yuhina will bring “her introspection invoking live storytelling combining ethereal vocals with powerful electronic paintings”. Disco Puppet offers a “signature strain of electronica colliding lo-fi toy synth melancholia with a heavy dose of harmonised distorted vocal journalling” and Daisho’s set promises “genre and pace bending DJ sets that explores the fringes of what’s considered dance music”.
