IPL 2021: Michael Vaughan said that while Jos Buttler may yet be retained by Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore should try to bring him in next season to be their next captain after Virat Kohli.
England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler can be a good candidate to be Royal Challengers Bangalore's next captain, according to Michael Vaughan, after Virat Kohli's nine-year stint as the franchise's skipper came to an end earlier this week. Vaughan, the 2005 Ashes winning former England captain, said Buttler has the personality to become like Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni and lead the team with Kohli in it.
Vaughan also said that it is unclear if Rajasthan Royals will let him go. Buttler is England's vice-captain in limited overs and has also been deputy to Joe Root in Tests in the absence of Ben Stokes. He chose not to play in the UAE leg but remains one of the most important batsmen in the RR lineup. "I will throw you a name. This name is out of the box because he's from another franchise and they may retain him, but I would choose Jos Buttler to go there and be the captain. He's got it in him to be like MS Dhoni. I have no doubt about him," Vaughan said on Cricbuzz.
