The John Tortorella era in Columbus is over.
Tortorella and the Blue Jackets have agreed to part ways, the team announced Sunday, after their season ended on Saturday with them in last place in the Central Division (18-26-12.) The 62-year-old former Rangers coach was in the final year of his contract. “It was awful,” Tortorella said of Columbus’ season, according to ESPN. “This one was a kick in the teeth for me. The first day of the rest of Daniel Jones’ dwindling time with the Giants arrived Wednesday, with Jones in the building, in the meetings, on the practice field (although not doing very much) and not at all part of the game plan for the next game, relegated to a non-participant role for the remainder of the season.
