Jodhpur violence: Internet services restored in violence-hit city

Internet service was restored in Jodhpur at 4 pm on Sunday. The services were suspended on May 3 as communal tensions in the city rose, just hours after two communities clashed over the hoisting of an Eid flag.
Internet service was restored in violence-hit areas of Rajasthan's Jodhpur on Sunday.
According to an order issued by Jodhpur Divisional Commissioner Himanshu Gupta, all internet services in Jodhpur have been restored as of 4 pm today.
On the other hand, the ongoing curfew in the city has been extended till 12 am on March 8.
"In the context of the current situation, the curfew has been extended in 10 police station areas of the city. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 in the Jodhpur Commissionerate area. The date is extended till 12:00 midnight of 08.05.2022," said the District Police Commissioner in an order.
Students and teachers appearing for the examination were also exempted from the curfew. Personnel engaged in medical services, bank officials, judicial officers, and media personnel were also exempted.
Previously, the curfew was lifted for two hours from 8 am to allow people to buy essential commodities. The use of vehicles was not permitted during the relaxation as a precautionary measure a day after police carried out a flag march in the city to maintain peace in the restive areas.
A communal clash broke out in Jodhpur before Eid, forcing a continued curfew in Jaipur. A total of 211 people have been arrested in connection with the violence, and 22 cases have been registered.
