Jharkhand government has allowed reopening schools in all districts from March 7 except for Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Chatra, Deoghar, Saraikela, Simdega, and Bokaro.
Jharkhand schools will reopen for all districts of the state from Class 1 onwards as the Covid-19 situation has been improved. The government had earlier allowed schools to reopen in 17 districts out of 24. There are some districts with a higher number of Covid-19 cases like Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Chatra, Deoghar, Saraikela, Simdega, and Bokaro. Therefore, the schools will not reopen in these districts. Chief Minister Hemant Soren took the decision during a meeting on Friday.
In these seven districts, schools were earlier allowed to reopen for Classes 9 to 12 from February 1. However, offline exams have been barred for Classes 1 to 8 in these seven districts till March 31, 2022, a statement from the state government said.
Other areas have also started functioning in Jharkhand. However, "all fairs, processions and exhibitions will remain prohibited," it added. Jharkhand witnessed a dip in COVID-19 cases registering only 62 cases during the last 24 hours taking the total caseload to 4,34,219 in the state.
The toll remained at 5,313 as no fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours. State capital Ranchi, East Singhbhum and Seraikela reported 11 cases each during the last 24 hours.
