Jersey box office collection Day 7: Shahid Kapoor's film continues to deteriorate
India Today
Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey has turned out to be a major dud at the box office. It has failed to bring the audience to the theatres.
Shahid Kapoor's film Jersey saw a further drop on Thursday, April 28. Its numbers went down again as compared to Wednesday, April 27's collection. Reportedly, the film earned just Rs 1 crore on Day 7. Hence, the total box office collection now stands at Rs 19.96 crore. No doubt, Jersey has turned out to be a major flop at the box office as its numbers were affected by Yash's KGF: Chapter 2.
Shahid Kapoor plays the role of a cricket enthusiast in Jersey, whose dreams of being a part of the Indian cricket team is fulfilled in his 40s. The film has majorly crashed at the box office, and it remains to be seen how it performs on OTT now. The film looks all set to wrap up its theatrical run with around Rs 20-crore mark. Jersey might also be discontinued from the theatres soon and be replaced by Heropanti 2 and Runway 34. The lifetime collection of Jersey would be similar to the lifetime collection of Rangoon (Rs 20.68 crore) and Chance Pe Dance (Rs 20.62 crore). Interestingly, Jersey's lifetime collections might be nearly the same as the Day 1 earnings of Shahid Kapoor’s last film, Kabir Singh, which was Rs 20.21 crore.
Jersey is the Hindi remake of Nani's Telugu film of the same title. It is backed by Allu Entertainment, Dil Raju Production, Sithara Entertainments and Brat Films. The sports drama stars Shahid Kapoor as a former cricketer who returns to the game for his son's wish of a jersey. Jersey was originally scheduled to release on August 28, 2020, but was postponed multiple times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The film was finally released on April 22, 2022.
