After many delays due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey finally opened in theatres on April 22. While critics lauded the intent of the film and Shahid’s performance, the film had an average opening at the box office.
Shahid Kapoor has proven his mettle as an actor with the emotional film, Jersey. However, the film witnessed a slow start at the box office. The early estimates for the film was Rs 4 crore, but according to box office reports, the film had a very average opening and witness low footfall in theatres.

Jersey is the Hindi remake of Nani's Telugu film of the same title. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri who helmed the original, Jersey stars Shahid Kapoor in the role of a cricketer whose dreams of playing for the nation are fulfilled near his 40s. He takes the decision to return to the field to earn his son's respect, since the rest of the world deems him a failure. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur.
