Jeep has announced the launch of the new Jeep Meridian on 19 May 2022. Deliveries are also expected to begin soon.
Jeep will announce prices for the new Jeep Meridian on the 19th of May 2022. Earlier this month, Jeep began production of the Meridian at their Ranjangaon facility in the run-up to deliveries, with bookings officially at Jeep dealerships. Deliveries are also expected to begin subsequently.
Jeep Meridian is based on the same platform as the Compass, but is longer, wider, taller and rides on a longer wheelbase as well. Its styling is reminiscent of both the Compass and the larger Grand Cherokee. Along with a longer wheelbase, Jeep has also added an extra row of seats, enabling the Meridian to carry up to seven occupants.
Jeep will offer the Meridian with only a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 170bhp and 350Nm for now. This engine will be available with either a 6-speed MT or a 9-speed AT. The latter will be offered in a 4x4 variant as well. The Jeep Meridian will be positioned above the Compass and will be on sale only in range-topping Limited and Limited (O) trims.
Speaking at the start of production of the Jeep Meridian, Roland Bouchara, CEO and Managing Director, Stellantis India said, “The Jeep Meridian is the third new model manufactured in India since 2021 as part of Jeep’s product offensive. A demonstration of the company's commitment to the domestic market, the Jeep Meridian will feature up to 82% localisation and has been specially designed, engineered, and tuned for Indian road conditions, keeping in mind the refinement expected by customers in the segment. The duality represented by the all-new Jeep Meridian of Sophistication & Capability has the potential to disrupt the premium SUV segment.”
