Jee Le Zaraa, a Bollywood road trip for women was long overdue
India Today
Farhan Akhtar brings us Jee Le Zaraa, a road-trip film on female friendships, 20 years after Dil Chahta Hai. It's about time the girls took the car out, isn't it?
20 years after Dil Chahta Hai, a film that redefined friendship - and modern cinema in many ways - was released, Farhan Akhtar announced his next road-trip movie. Titled Jee Le Zaraa, the film will be produced by Reema Kagti-Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani, with Farhan occupying the director's chair a decade after Don 2. Now, with feathers like Dil Chahta Hai and its successor Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara on their hat, it is safe to say that this safar film won't be a suffer - like the several attempts to bring female friendships and road trips together have been. The Trip, Four More Shots Please Season 2, even bits of Veere Di Wedding, for example - but we're not making these pitstops on the way. We're heading straight to Jee Le Zaraa, starring Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra, in what looks like one of Bollywood's biggest casting coops so far, but more importantly, a long-overdue travel film about women. Did someone say road trip?Thrilled to announce my next film as director and what better day than 20 years of Dil Chahta Hai to do it. #JeeLeZaraa with @priyankachopra #KatrinaKaif @aliaa08 will commence filming in 2022 and I cannot wait to get this show on the road. pic.twitter.com/Ycg5tRnEeFMore Related News
