Jasprit Bumrah was recently ruled out of the three-match T20I series against South Africa due to a back injury. He is currently under the supervision of the medical staff at the NCA in Bangalore.
Sourav Ganguly, the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 just yet. Recently, Bumrah sustained a back injury prior to India’s first T20I against South Africa in Trivandrum and was ruled out of the remaining two matches of the series.
Later, Mohammed Siraj replaced him for the white-ball series at home. After missing the ongoing series that India are leading 1-0, Bumrah went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore to undergo scans. He is currently under the supervision of the medical staff at the NCA.
"Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet," Ganguly was quoted as saying to Xtra Time digital channel in Kolkata on Friday, September 30.
Ganguly, however, kept his “fingers crossed” and mentioned that a final decision could be taken in the "next two or three days".
After playing India’s away series against England, Bumrah made his return in the three-match T20I series against Australia. In two matches, he bowled six overs and conceded 73 runs at an economy rate of 12.16.
India are set to depart for Australia on Thursday, October 6 to take part in a preparatory camp ahead of the mega event that starts on October 16.
