Jal Jeevan Mission urges Uttar Pradesh to provide tap water supply to 78 lakh rural households this year

In Uttar Pradesh, there are 2.64 crore rural households in over 97,000 villages, out of which 34 lakh (12.87%) households now have tap water supply.
In an effort to accelerate the pace of implementation of Jal Shakti Mission, the National Jal Jeevan Mission has urged Uttar Pradesh to take necessary measures to provide tap water supply to 78 lakh rural households in the State this year.
In Uttar Pradesh, there are 2.64 crore rural households in over 97,000 villages, out of which 34 lakh (12.87%) households now have tap water supply.
“To accelerate the pace of JJM implementation, National Jal Jeevan Mission has urged the State to take necessary measures to provide tap water supply to 78 lakh rural households in the State this year, for which the State plans to start water supply works in more than 60,000 villages by December 2021,” the Jal Shakti Ministry said in a statement.
