The ED alleged that within a month of her conversations with Sukesh Chandrashekhar, she came across news articles and learnt about his real identity. Yet, she continued to accept gifts from him.
Actor Jacqueline Fernandez enjoyed the expensive jewellery and gift from conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar despite knowing about his criminal history, the Enforcement Directorate said in its chargesheet against her.
“It is clear that Jacqueline Fernandez was enjoying the valuables, jewellery and costly gifts as provided by the accused, Sukesh Chandrasekhar, despite knowing about his criminal antecedents. From the statements recorded, it is evident that she consciously chose to overlook his criminal past and continued to indulge in financial transactions with him. Not only her, but her family members and friends have benefited from the relationship,” reads the ED chargesheet, a copy of which is available with India Today TV.
“The accused, Jacqueline Fernandez, despite knowing that Sukesh Chandrasekhar had committed scheduled offences and out of those proceeds of crime generated through various criminal activities related to the scheduled offences, part of the proceeds of crime had been directly received in India and abroad as well, by Jacqueline Fernandez for the use and enjoyment by herself and her family members and thereby, projecting as loan anount in the form of transfers made into the accounts of the sister and brother of accused Jacqueline Fernandez and also bought cars for the father and mother of accused Jacqueline Fernandez and thereby acquired and enjoyed the proceeds of crime,” the chargesheet further reads.

Jacqueline Fernandez had claimed through her lawyer that she was not aware of Sukesh’s real identity and knew him as Shekar, hailing from a very popular political family.
However, the ED alleged that within a month of her conversations, she came across news articles through which she learnt about the real identity of Sukesh Chandrashekhar but continued to accept the gifts.
“Thus, it can be safely concluded that the lure of money ensured that the criminal history of the person she was engaging with did not matter. Further, the accused, Jacqueline Fernandez, has consistently shifted her stance with regard to the gifts being received by her and her relatives. It was only upon confrontation with evidence and statements on record that she divulged the details,” the chargesheet added.
