
J&K top cop approves attachment of properties used in terror activities

Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh has accorded sanction for the attachment and seizure of immovable and movable properties used in terror activities.
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has accorded sanction for the attachment or seizure of immovable and moveable properties in exercise of powers conferred by section 25 of the UAPA. J&K police headquarters (PHQ) has accorded sanction for the attachment of four residential houses and seizure of three vehicles used for providing assistance in terror activities.
As per orders of different PHQ orders, sanction has been accorded for the attachment of four residential houses which were involved in harbouring and providing assistance to carry out terrorist activities. Besides, sanctions were also accorded for the seizure of three vehicles including, one two wheeler used for unlawful activities.
A case was filed under sections 120-B, 302, 307, 392 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act at Parimpora police station. During the investigation, it was found that three residential houses of Mohd Yousuf Sofi, Adil Mohammad Lone and Khursheed Ahmad were used for providing assistance to three terrorists involved in the commission of a terrorist attack upon CRPF personnel deployed for Road Opening Party (ROP) duties at Lawypora NHW Srinagar.

Another FIR was filed under the relevant sections of the IPC and UAPA at Harwan police station in Srinagar. A police probe revealed that the residential house of Ab Rehman Bhat was used for terror activities and his son Ashiq Hussain Bhat was harbouring terrorists in it. The circumstances and evidence during the investigation prove that the immovable property represents 'proceeds of terrorism'. In 2021, the PHQ accorded sanction for seizure of 75 vehicles, five houses, six shops, land and cash under the UAPA.
In investigation of other cases filed at Ganderbal police station and Pulwama, it came to the fore that a Scorpio, auto load carrier and a two-wheeler were used for carrying out terror activities. While a Scorpio was registered in the name of Lateef Ahmad Kambay, the auto carrier was registered in the name of Aquib Yousuf Mir. The two-wheeler, a TVS scooty, was registered in the name of Irshad Ahmad Malik.
