J&K to start NEP 2020 implementation from April

The union territory of Jammu and Kashmir will begin the implementation of NEP 2020 from the start of April.
The government of Jammu and Kashmir announced on Thursday that from the beginning of April, the National Education Policy, 2020, is going to be implemented in the union territory. To resolve the operational issues being faced in the implementation of the education policy and other schemes, a high level meeting chaired by Advisor to the LG Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, School Education and Literacy Department Secretary Anita Karwal and Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta was convened.
A senior official said, "The National Education Policy is being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir from April 1."
Officials informed further that the School Education Department was asked to immediately roll out a preschool preparation programme for Class 1 students called 'Vidya Pravesh' under the policy.
They further said that the Vidya Pravesh programme consists of a three-month play module and the Indian Sign language as a subject at secondary level, they added.
The officials informed that the Finance Department will soon be providing the School Education and Literacy Department with Rs 259 crore for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
This is apart from the Rs 28.1 crore it is to receive as the UT's share, they added.
Informing further, they said this will enable the department to submit the utilisation certificate of the total amount of Rs 464 crore within a week to the Government of India.
