J&K polls unlikely to be held anytime soon as Delimitation Commission gets another year to finish task
India Today
Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls are unlikely to be held anytime soon as the Delimitation Commission has got a one-year extension to finish its task of redrawing the parliamentary and assembly constituencies in the Union Territory.
The Centre has given a one-year extension to the Delimitation Commission, set up in March last year to redraw the electoral constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh. The notification issued on Wednesday night said the term has been extended by one year and now the panel would look only into the delimitation of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The move indicates that the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir would not be held anytime soon.More Related News
