J&K Police sanctions special welfare relief to families of deceased cops

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday sanctioned a special welfare relief for the families of deceased cops.
Continuing with its efforts to provide financial assistance to the families of the police personnel who have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh, has sanctioned special welfare relief of Rs 2.16 crore and ex-gratia relief of Rs 38 lakh for legal heirs of the deceased.
"Ex-gratia relief of Rs 38 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of martyr follower Bantoo Ji Sharma, who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack," said a police statement.
"Special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of martyrs Constable Reyaz Ahmad, Constable Ghulam Hassan and also in favour of Next of Kins [NoKs] of deceased police personnel ASI Kuldeep Raj, ASI Bashir Ahmad, Assistant sub-inspector of police Kuldeep Raj, Head constable Ravi Ji, Head constable (Tel) Jaswant Singh, Head constable Balbir Chand and Sg Ct Suresh Kumar. These deceased personnel have passed away due to illness or natural death while in service," it added.
The police statement added, "Rs one lakh each has already been paid to the NoKs of these martyred or deceased police personnel through their concerned units for performing last rites. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of the contributory police welfare funds."
The DGP has also sanctioned special welfare relief of Rs 6 lakh each for the NoKs of deceased Special Police Officers (SPOs) Kuldeep Kumar, Rita Devi, and Abdul Hamid Mir, who died while on duty.
