The DGP J&K on Tuesday reviewed the security arrangements put in place at important base camps for the Amarnath Yatra.
The Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh on Tuesday reviewed the security arrangements put in place at important base camps, Baltal and Domail, and enroute the Amarnath Yatra.
This is the first yatra after the COVID-19 pandemic. At least three lakh pilgrims are likely to take part in the pilgrimage that is expected to end on August 11.
Apart from the security arrangements, the DGP also inspected the parking facilities for the vehicles. The DGP directed to make adequate parking arrangements for the yatra for better management of traffic and security.
The DGP further inspected police deployments, JPCR, and police posts at Baltal and stressed round the clock functioning of joint control rooms and supervision of arrangements by senior officers.
The DGP also ordered strict adherence to security protocols and to strengthen communication networks.
Additionally, quick response teams should be put on high alert to provide immediate assistance to the pilgrims as and when required, the DGP said.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah last month had said a "hassle-free" journey for the pilgrims is a priority of the Modi government and directed that all arrangements, including additional electricity, water, and telecom facilities be made.
