The advisor to the J&K LG has requested district commissioners to expedite the process of operationalisation of the Eklavya Model Residential Schools.
On Monday, advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor, Farooq Khan, asked the deputy commissioners to fasten the process of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) operationalisation before April. He further stated that the government is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art facilities for tribal children through the EMRS, which would provide the finest teaching staff and infrastructure for those children who live in rural regions.
The remarks by the lieutenant governor's advisor came as he was chairing a meeting to consider and provide for the setting up of new EMRS and the operationalisation of already approved ones.
The meeting was further attended by senior officers belonging to various departments that included Tribal Affairs Secretary Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary and deputy commissioners of both divisions of Kashmir and Jammu.
The deputy commissioners made recommendations for the EMRS, which would be presented to the Indian government in two stages for approval (10 in phase-I and eight in phase-II).
To ensure that facilities can be dedicated to people on time, the LG's advisor asked the deputy commissioner to hasten the operationalisation process of EMRS before April.
He also requested them to find suitable parcels of land in districts for EMRS that would be simple to access and have room for future growth.
