J&K BJP chief meets village defence committee members, assures help

Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina met with a delegation of village defence committee members and promised to help them fulfill their demands.
A delegation of village defence committee (VDC) members met Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Ravinder Raina on Monday to discuss their demands from the government.
The VDCs were formed in the early 90s in terror-hit hill districts of the Jammu division to fight the terrorists. The VDC delegation had come to meet Raina to seek his help in settling a slew of demands they have from the government. This includes the regular salary and family welfare of the members.
The delegation said that the VDCs had played a constructive role in the society and requested the party seniors to ensure that their long-pending genuine demands are resolved soon.
The J&K BJP chief assured the delegation that their issues would be resolved soon.
Ravinder Raina termed them as the important pillars of the security system in this region. He praised them for their bravery and said that they have discharged their duties to save their motherland with the utmost dedication and successfully resisted and played an important role in the neutralisation of terrorists from the tough terrain.
He also said that all the issues pertaining to the VDC were in the process of redressal and that the government will come out with a constructive for them in the near future.
Sunil Sharma, J&K BJP general secretary, said that he is in touch with the UT authorities and the central government and all the issues of VDC members and SPOs will be addressed.
