The 36-year-old tested positive for the three infections after returning from a vacation where he admitted to having unprotected sex with multiple men.
An Italian man, who reported a series of symptoms - including fever, fatigue, and a sore throat - days after returning from a trip to Spain, is the first known case of a person testing positive for monkeypox, Covid-19 and HIV all at once, reported the Mail Online.
Earlier this year, the 36-year-old man, who has not been identified, spent five days in Spain from June 16 to June 20. During his stay in the country, he admitted to having unprotected sex with multiple men.
Days after his return home, on July 2, he tested positive for Covid, the report said, citing a case study in the Journal of Infection.
The same afternoon, he began developing a rash on his left arm. The next day, small cyst-like boils appeared on his torso, lower limbs, face and glutes. They were surrounded by a rash.

By July 5, these had further spread and evolved into small bumps on the skin. It was then that the man went to the San Marco University Hospital in Italy’s Catania, where he was subsequently taken to the infectious diseases unit.
Doctors ran multiple tests and the results returned positive for monkeypox.
