It's going to be a washout on Wednesday.
That's the message from Environment Canada as a potentially record-setting rainfall is forecast to hit Hamilton and surrounding area.
"We are looking at a drenching rain tonight into Wednesday and even into Thursday morning," said Gerald Chen, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.
"It's going to be at least 36 hours of straight rain."
The weather authority has issued a rainfall warning for the city, saying showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to roll over the region in the next two days, dropping 50 to 60 mm of precipitation.
Thanks to those thunderstorms, some spots could see up to 75 mm of rain this week, said Chen.
That's nearly the average for an entire September in Hamilton, which measures in at just under 82 mm, according to Environment Canada.
