It is too late for Harry Maguire to save his Manchester United career: Jamie Carragher
India Today
Jamie Carragher has claimed that it is too late for Harry Maguire to save his Manchester United career and the defender should move on from the club after this season. Maguire hasn't been the first choice defender for Erik ten Hag this season.
Jamie Carragher has claimed that it is too late for Harry Maguire to save his Manchester United career and said that the English defender should look to move on and start afresh.
Maguire has been a polarizing figure when it comes to United, with many fans being critical of his performances in recent times. The English defender has gone down the pecking order in the past few weeks at the club with Erik ten Hag preferring Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane at the heart of defence.
The results have also supported Ten Hag's decision with United conceding little in the past few games.
Writing on his Daily Telegraph Column, as quoted by Daily Mail, Carragher questioned if Maguire has the same desire in him and said that the current season should be his final one at Manchester United.
"My question to Maguire is this: "Do you still have that same fury in you?" Carragher wrote in his Daily Telegraph column.
"Too often, it looks as if the weight of the world is on his shoulders, like he is a startled bunny more than the authoritative centre-back he was. I think it is too late at club level. I wrote last year he was fighting for his Manchester United career. He needs this to be his final season at Old Trafford and start afresh," said Carragher.
Carragher also commented on Maguire's performances in the last two games and said that he felt sorry for him. The Manchester United was at fault for the first two goals England conceded in their 3-3 draw against Germany.
