dpa Gaza City Israeli fighter jets targeted several positions of the Islamist Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip late on Saturday, according to the Israeli army. An Israeli army spokesman said in a statement Israeli fighter jets targeted a Hamas military compound and a âterrorist tunnelâ entrance.The strike on the Gaza Strip followed protests that took place near the border and was carried out in response to Hamas launching incendiary balloons towards Israel, the army said. Paramedics said no injuries were reported, but damage was caused to the targeted posts and facilities. In Gaza, social media activists published several videos and photos showing flames and black smoke coming from the targeted areas.The Hamas-run al-Aqsa radio in Gaza reported that Hamas militants fired machine guns at the fighter jets. Earlier on Saturday, medics said 11 Palestinian protestors were injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers stationed at the border.Saturdayâs airstrike on the Gaza Strip is the fifth since May, when Israeli military and Palestinian militants engaged in an 11-day armed conflict in which 13 people were killed in Israel, and 255 people died in the Gaza Strip, according to official figures given by the Israeli and Palestinian authorities respectively.The EU, Israel and the US classify Hamas as a terrorist organization.More Related News
