Tribune News NetworkDohaThe headquarters of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Gaza was targeted by Israeli air strikes on Monday evening. Two Palestinians were killed and 10 others injured in the attack.âMajor destruction in our office as a result of Israeli warplanes targeting two floors of the same building, opposite to the ministry of health in the Ghazi Al Shawa building,â Director of QRCS in Gaza Akram Nassar said.QRCS Secretary-General HE Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi said shelling QRCSâ Gaza office was a severe violation of different charters, customs and Genevaâs four conventions, which Israeli ratified in 1951. He added that the flagrant violation of the QRCS office, which operates under the umbrella of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, was a violation against the crews as well as against humanitarian and aid work that is internationally recognized, adding that the incident amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity.He added that, in light of todayâs violation, QRCS can only remind all parties of the international community and the humanitarian movement of the need to abide by the principles and provisions of international humanitarian law, particularly in the circumstances of armed conflicts.The QRCS condemned the attack and said it was a violation of international humanitarian law and said it would not be deterred by such attacks in discharging its duties. âWe will continue to provide relief to people affected by the Israeli aggression in Gaza Strip, in cooperation with the Palestinian Red Crescent,â it said.Condemning the targeting of its headquarters in the Gaza Strip, QRCS stressed the need to allow relief teams to work in accordance with international humanitarian law.On Saturday, an Israeli airstrike targeted and destroyed a high-rise building in Gaza City that housed offices of Al Jazeera, The Associated Press and other media outlets.More Related News
