The Shiny Legs optical illusion was accidentally created by Hunter Culverhouse in 2016. She posted the picture on Instagram and it instantly went viral online, triggering a debate.
Optical illusions of various kinds have taken the internet by storm and are super fun to solve. While some of them tell you about your personality traits, others try to gauge on which side your mind bends more. Some illusions also test the player’s ability to decipher between what is real and what is not. And we have the perfect example to demonstrate that. So, an old picture featuring a woman’s legs has gone viral online again. The “Shiny Legs” illusion surfaced in 2016 and has now tickled the fancy of netizens again.
The viral picture featuring a woman’s legs confused netizens over what was there on top of it. While some people thought the legs were oiled up and had a sheen to them, others thought it was white paint. The illusion was accidentally created by Hunter Culverhouse. It was purely unintentional and she decided to post a picture of it on Instagram.
“I was finishing off some art homework and had some white paint left on my brush and just decided to draw random lines. I had no intentions of making it look shiny,” Hunter said.
After Culverhouse posted the picture of her legs on Instagram, it went crazy viral, triggering a debate online. People were reminded of “The Dress” illusion that created a frenzy on the internet in 2015.
However, Hunter Culverhouse cleared the confusion and revealed that the lines on her legs are actually made of white paint.
Interesting, right?
