Irrfan knew his character in Haasil will live on. On Throwback Thursday
India Today
In this week's Throwback Thursday, we pay tribute to Irrfan and recall his unforgettable performance in the 2003 film Haasil. April 20, 2021, marks the legendary actor's 1st death anniversary.
"Bahut kadak acting karte ho yaar," Irrfan says to Jimmy Shergill in Haasil, a 2003 crime drama that tells an unforgettable tale of student politics. Irrfan made his Bollywood debut with a blink-and-you-miss-it role in the 1988 film Salaam Bombay. The Mira Nair directorial didn't help the actor's career as he had to do multiple, unfulfilling roles in television and on the big screen years after its release. However, Irrfan's life took a U-turn when Haasil hit the big screen in 2003. The film made Bollywood take notice of him and his unique style of acting. On Irrfan's 1st death anniversary, we dedicate this week's Throwback Thursday to the legendary actor and recall his fearless performance in Haasil. Haasil starts with Irrfan running for his life. He plays the role of Ranvijay Singh, an aspiring politician, who is at loggerheads with Gauri Shankar (Ashutosh Rana), student union president. Gauri Shankar wants to eliminate Ranvijay and win the college election. Shankar can kill a village if that helps him win the election and he literally does so. But Ranvijay is equally ruthless and doesn't mind killing a fellow student in broad daylight.More Related News
