Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian has kicked up a storm after blaming students from North India for the spike in Covid cases in the state.
"North Indian students are spreading Covid in Tamil Nadu. Covid cases have started to increase in educational institutions like IIT and Anna University. In northern states like Delhi, Haryana, UP, the cases are increasing every day, so when students from these states reach these institutions, new clusters emerge," Subramanian said, addressing a press meet on Covid.
BJP leader Jitin Prasada lashed out at the health minister, saying disease and pandemics do not know any state boundaries or borders. He called the remark "extremely irresponsible, derogatory and insulting."
