Ireland vs India, 1st T20I Live Streaming and TV coverage details: Hardik Pandya-led India will take on Ireland in the first of a 2-match T20I series at Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin from 9 pm IST on Sunday, June 26.
India take on Ireland in the first of a 2-match T20I series in Dublin on Sunday, June 26. Hardik Pandya will lead a team of white-ball specialists as India look to test their bench strength in the lead up to the T20 World Cup which will be played in Australia later this year.
India have flown to Ireland with an 18-member squad and there is an opportunity for the team management to try out fresh faces. Not Rahul Dravid but VVS Laxman has accompanied the team as the head coach as the former is leading India's preparations for the much-anticipated Test against England in Leicestershire.
The focus will be on Hardik Pandya's maiden stint as India captain as the in-form all-rounder impressed as Gujarat Titans skipper in IPL 2022. It's a good opportunity for Pandya to prove his credentials and establish himself as a potential future member of India's leadership group.
It will be interesting to see if India play the likes of Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik - the two young pacers who were included in the squad for the South Africa series at home earlier this year after an impressive IPL 2022 showing. While Arshdeep and Umran did not get a game against South Africa, expect them to get their maiden India caps in Ireland.
Rahul Tripathi, who was handed his maiden India call-up for the Ireland tour, will also be looking to carry forward his IPL form if given an opportunity in the playing XI.
All eyes will be on comeback man Suryakumar Yadav as the Mumbai star will look to seal his place in the T20I Xi after having missed the South Africa series due to injury concerns.
India will be a confident bunch despite the absence of several of their big names. The Asian giants have a 3-0 record over Ireland, which includes a 2-0 sweep of a series during their tour in 2018.
