Iran could produce 'one bomb's worth of fissile material' in about 12 days, Pentagon official tells Congress

Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl told Congress on Tuesday that Iran could make enough fissile material for a nuclear bomb in just 12 days.
"Because Iran's nuclear progress since we left the JCPOA has been remarkable. Back in 2018, when the previous administration decided to leave the JCPOA, it would have taken Iran about 12 months to produce one bomb's worth of fissile material. The original 2015 nuclear deal with Iran curtailed their nuclear program in exchange for relief from economic sanctions.
