IPL 2022: Riyan Parag eyes donning the national colours - I can be the best finisher not just for Rajasthan Royals but for India

Riyan Parag is currently plying his trade for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Young batter Riyan Parag reckoned he has the potential to become a genuine match-finisher for Team India going ahead in his career. After being a part of the India U19 team that won the 2018 World Cup in New Zealand, the 20-year-old has taken decent strides in his career.
The batting all-rounder is now into his fourth season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After making his IPL debut for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) back in 2019, Parag stayed with them for three seasons. But after a lacklustre campaign in the 2021 IPL, the Royals released him ahead of the mega auction.
However, RR bought him back at a price of INR 3.80 crores after a bidding war with Gujarat Titans (GT), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC).
The Guwahati-born Parag also admitted that he needs to work on certain aspects of his game to make it big for the Royals and the national team.
"I don't want to praise myself too much, but I think I can be the best finisher not just for Rajasthan Royals but for India in years to come. I have got the skill-set, I've got all-rounder abilities and not just batting, fielding and bowling as well.
"Yes, I've got a lot to work on and I've got to be consistent. I've got to work a lot on a lot of areas but I firmly believe that I can do it for the Rajasthan Royals team and the country as well," Parag was quoted as saying on 'Red Bull's Greatness Starts Here', a video shared by CricTracker.
In 34 IPL matches, Parag has scored 364 runs at an average of 15.83 and a strike rate of 120.13. He is also known for his spin-bowling, although he only has three wickets in the IPL to show for his efforts. Parag also has experience of captaincy, having led his domestic team, Assam, in a couple of seasons in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
