IPL 2022: RCB wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been reprimanded for his outburst during the final over their Eliminator against Lucknw Super Giants on Wednesday.
Royal Challengers Banglore wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been reprimanded for his showcase of frustration during the final over of their IPL 2022 Eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Dinesh Karthik admitted to breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. The wicketkeeper-batter was heard on the stump-mic venting out his frustration after playing back-to-back dot balls in the final over of the RCB innings bowled by Avesh Khan. Karthik was heard using an expletive as he failed to connect with the delivery that was bowled wide outside the off-stump.
"Mr. Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," the IPL said in a statement.
Dinesh Karthik played the finisher's role to perfection once again, hitting 37 not out in 23 deliveries, stitching a 92-run off 41 balls with Player of the Match Rajat Patidar who stole the show with 112 not out in just 54 balls.
Karthik has been in fine form for RCB, hitting 324 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of over 180. Rewarding his performances for RCB in IPL 2022 and the domestic performances for Tamil Nadu, the BCCI senior selection committee handed a recall to Karthik to the India T20I squad for the upcoming 5-match series against South Africa in June.
