IPL 2022, PBKS vs GT: Rahul Tewatia on Friday became the 2nd man after MS Dhoni to hit 2 sixes and win an IPL match when 12 runs were needed off the last 2 balls. Tewatia's stunning effort helped Gujarat Titans win their 3rd successive match of the new season.
Rahul Tewatia proved yet again that he has nerves of steel as he helped Gujarat Titans pull off a stunning win over Punjab Kings at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and complete a hat-trick of victories in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Needing 12 runs in the last 2 balls in a 190-run chase, Rahul Tewatia sent the last 2 deliveries of the match from Punjab Kings pacer Odean Smith into the deep mid-wicket stands, putting a smile on captain Hardik Pandya's face after the star all-rounder was gutted over his run-out in the final over of the tense chase. \
Tewatia hit 13 off just 3 balls, which included the sixes in the last two deliveries of the match.
With his heroic effort in the final over, Rahul Tewaia joined MS Dhoni in an elite list of batters to hit 2 sixes when 12 runs were needed off the last 2 balls to win an IPL match. Dhoni had hit 2 sixes off the last two deliveries to win an IPL match for Rising Pune Super Giants against Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) against left-arm spinner Axar Patel.
Notably, Ravindra Jadeja had also hit 2 sixes to finish off an IPL game for Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022 but CSK had needed just 7 off the last two deliveries in that game.
