IPL 2022: Moeen Ali is yet to receive his visa to India, leading to doubts over his availability for the March 26 opening match.
Chennai Super Kings are fretting over the availability of their England all-rounder Moeen Ali for the Indian Premier League (IPL) opening match on March 26. Moeen Ali's visa to India hasn't been approved yet and the England star is yet to leave for India to join Chennai Super Kings.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told India Today that the franchise is not sure of why there's a delay in Moeen's visa approval but expressed confidence that the issue will be sorted soon.
"We spoke to him about the issue and he is hoping that matter will be resolved soon.all necessary documentation has been done but don't know why his visa approval hasn't come. As soon he will get his Visa he will fly to India and join the team," Viswanathan said.
CSK will open their campaign when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. CSK players have been training in Surat in the lead up to the new season. While the likes of MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu began training earlier this month, the other domestic stars and foreign players have started arriving.
Moeen Ali will have to undergo a 3-day quarantine upon arrival in India. He is not part of the England Test team that is currently touring the West Indies after having retired from the longest format of the game.
India and overseas players have been allowed to do buvble to bubble transfer as well. Rohit Sharma and his Test team members joined their respective IPL sides via bubble to bubble transfer after completing the pink ball Test in Bengaluru.
