IPL 2022: RR vs MI, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene said that lack of concentration in crucial moments took away the game from them as they lost to Rajasthan Royals at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Saturday.
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene said that his team needs to start finishing off games better while maintaining that there's no need for panic early in the season after beginning IPL 2022 with back to back losses.
Mumbai Indians lost to Rajasthan Royals at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Saturday, their second loss in a row in IPL 2022. Mumbai could only manage to achieve 170/7 in 20 overs after RR had put 193 runs on the board.
Mumbai Indians gave away 70 runs in three overs, and could only dismiss Jos Buttler after he scored a century. Kieron Pollard proved to be the most expensive, giving away 42 runs, followed by Tymal Mill (35, along with Daniel Sams and Murugan Ashwin, who gave 32.
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene said that he was not happy that his side gave away so many runs.
“Again a disappointing outing for us. Lot of good things again. “
“Three bad overs with the ball, gave up 70 runs. That means we bowled 17 overs on a very good wicket for 120 runs. Skill wise we were very very good, but it just those three bad overs,” he said on Mumbai Indians’ official Instagram page.
Mumbai were handed an early blow when skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed by fellow Indian bowler Prasidh Krishna (1/37) for just 10 runs. Mumbai then had a decent spell with Ishan Kishan (54 runs off 43 balls) and Tilak Varma (61 runs off 33 balls), but lost four wickets for 15 runs in the middle overs.
