IPL 2022, KKR vs PBKS: Veteran pacer Umesh Yadav has created a unique record in IPL 2022 by taking 33 wickets against Punjab, highest for any bowler against an opponent in IPL. With this new record, he has surpassed Sunil Narine and Lasith Malinga and also completed his 50th wicket in the powerplay.
Umesh Yadav continued his impressive run with the new ball and helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeat power-laden Punjab Kings for 137 in 18.2 overs. The bowler not only registered his career-best figures of 4 for 23 but also went past the likes of Sunil Narine, Lasith Malinga, Dwayne Bravo to become the bowler with the most wickets against an opponent in the IPL.His terrific spell, followed by Andre Russell returning to his brutal best to fire, ensured a comfortable six-wicket victory for KKR.
Yadav took four wickets and dismissed PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal, Liam Livingstone, Rahul Chahar and Kagiso Rabada. From taking 33 wickets against Punjab, the highest for any bowler against an opponent in the IPL, and completing his 50th wicket in the powerplay, this match rolled out many firsts for the veteran pacer.
Yadav has surpassed his teammate Sunil Naraine, who was the first one to top the chart in taking the most number of wickets against an opponent in the IPL. But when Yadav took his fourth wicket against Punjab, Naraine's score reached 32 against the Punjab-based franchise in the 10th over.
Lasith Malinga and Dwayne Bravo stand third on the list with 31 wickets against CSK and Mumbai Indians (MI), respectively. Amit Mishra has 30 wickets against Rajasthan Royals.
With this terrific performance, he now has the most number of 'Player of the Match' awards against a particular IPL team and went past Yusuf Pathan's tally of 5, against Deccan Charges.

Yadav sent back Punjab skipper Mayank Agarwal on the last ball of his first over and when he returned for the second spell, he got rid of crucial wicket of Liam Livingstone in the ninth over. The Vidarbha pacer further added to the opponent's woes by dismissing Harpreet Brar (14) and Rahul Chahar (0) and destroyed chances of a PBKS comeback.
