Punjab Kings all-rounder Odean Smith praised Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, saying that he wanted to inculcate aspects of the skipper into his game.
West Indies international Odean Smith played an instrumental role in PBKS’ first win of IPL 2022, in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was unbeaten, scoring 25 off 8 balls, chasing the target of 206 with ease, along with batter Shahrukh Khan.
Odean Smith said that he likes the aggressive nature of Sharma’s batting, and would like to take key aspects of his game into his game.
“I think that player would be Rohit Sharma. He is one of those players with (amazing) batting speed. He is a very aggressive nature and I would like to take that (aspect of his batting) into my game also.”
Rohit Sharma is the third highest scorer in the history of IPL, with 5662 runs from 215 matches at an average of 31.11 and a strike rate of 130.46, and 40 half-centuries to his name.
In addition, Rohit Sharma is the most decorated IPL captain, winning the title five times. The “Hitman” has been struggling at the start of this season, as Mumbai lost their last two games, against Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.
“I like watching him. I haven’t really interacted with him as yet but hopefully, soon I will be doing that," Odean Smith said.
