IPL 2022, GT vs LSG: Speaking after winning his first-ever match as captain in the IPL, Hardik Pandya said he was elated with the way Gujarat Titans found multiple heroes on Monday in Mumbai.
Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya said he was delighted with the comprehensive team effort in their first win in the Indian Premier League on Monday. Gujarat won the battle of newbies against Lucknow Super Giants, gunning down 159 in a last-over thriller at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Speaking after winning his first-ever IPL game as captain, Hardik Pandya said he could not have asked for a better start, adding that the way everybody in the team contributed to the win will be a boost of confidence as they go ahead in their inaugural season.
Gujarat, as Hardik pointed out, had more than one protagonist in their 5-wicket win over Lucknow as Mohammed Shami, Rahul Tewatia, David Miller, Abhinav Manohar and the skipper himself contributed.

While Shami's opening burst of 3 wickets racked the Lucknow batting unit after Hardik opted to bowl, Rahul Tewtia (40 not out off 24) and David Miller (21-bal 30) revived their chase that was stuttering after Gujarat lost captain Hardik and opener Matthew Wade in quick succession following a steady stand between the two.
As the game went down the wire, Tewatia and Miller took the Lucknow bowlers to the cleaners before Karnataka's highly-rated Abhinav Manohar hit 15 from just 7 balls to take them past the finish line.
"We want to win as a team and nobody can take the contribution away from anyway. It was quite humid as well, so I wouldn't have finished Shami's spell over there.
