Delhi Capitals opener David Warner scored a half-century in the win against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday, and said that he was loving life at the franchise.
Delhi Capitals beat table toppers Kolkata Knight Riders by 44 runs at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday. Openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw got their half-centuries to help Delhi Capitals achieve a massive total of 215 runs.
David Warner played his second game for DC after returning from Australia’s three format tour of Pakistan. He scored just 4 runs in his first game against LSG, but got a half century in the win against KKR scoring 61 runs off 45 balls including 6 fours and 2 sixes.
After the game, while talking to the broadcasters, David Warner said that it felt good to get the half century with a tough wicket.
“Felt pretty good, it was a nice wicket and at times kind of slide up towards the back end and I think both teams did well with the execution with slow balls into the wicket, quite tough to hit especially to the long boundary.”
DC opener Prithvi Shaw also got his half century, getting 51 off just 29 balls. Warner was all praise for his opening partner after the game, saying that he was happy to take the back seat for him.
“He (Prithvi Shaw) is obviously an exciting player, and great to watch. Being up the other end makes your job easy when someone does it. Look in this format, two opening batters never really go off at the same time, so I’m happy to take the back seat. I’ve probably done that for a few years now.”
David Warner returned to the Delhi Capitals after he was picked up by the franchise for Rs 6.25 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction. He said that he was loving life with DC, referring to head coach Ricky Ponting as a father figure.
