IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Former Chennai Super Kings star Suresh Raina is all set to remain unsold in the mega auction. He had his base price at Rs 2 crore.
Suresh Raina is set to remain unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction as Mr. IPL was not part of the list of players teams submitted for the final accelerated round on Day 2 of the bidding process in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Suresh Raina will go unsold in an IPL auction for the first time in the history of the tournament. The former Chennai Super Kings batter will miss an IPL season for only the 2nd time in the history of the tournament after he missed IPL 2022 in the UAE due to personal reasons.
IPL Mega Auction Day 2 Live Updates
Notably, he went unsold when he came up for auction on Day 1 of the mega auction. Chennai Super Kings, which is fondly called ‘Chinna Thala’ did not bid for him. Raina had his base price at Rs 2 crore.
Raina retired from international cricket in 2022. He has played very few domestic games ever since and the lack of match practice would have gone against his favour at the mega auction.
Suresh Raina has been one of the legends of the IPL. The left-hand batter has scored 5528 runs in 204 matches in the history of IPL. He is 4th on the list of leading run-scorers in the IPL only behind Virat Kohli (6283), Shikhar Dhawan (5784) and Rohit Sharma (5611).
However, Raina played only 12 matches in IPL 2021 for CSK and managed 160 runs before he was dropped during the business end of the tournament. CSK bought back Robin Uthappa at his base price of Rs 2 crore. Notably, it was the Karnataka batter who replaced Raina in IPL 2021.
