IPL 2022 Auction; Former CSK star Suresh Raina, England captain Eoin Morgan, Australia batter Steve Smith and senior Indian pacer Ishant Sharma were some of the notable unsold players from the 2-day mega auction.
204 players were sold for Rs 551.70 crore over 2 days of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction but big names, including Suresh Raina, Ishant Sharma and Steve Smith, did not find any takers for the new season of the cash-rich T20 league.
Mr. IPL Suresh Raina's storied IPL career may have come to an end as he was not even called on for the final accelerated round on Day 2 of the mega auction on Sunday in Bengaluru. The former Chennai Super Kings star has scored 5528 runs in 204 matches in the history of IPL. He is 4th on the list of leading run-scorers in the IPL only behind Virat Kohli (6283), Shikhar Dhawan (5784) and Rohit Sharma (5611).

However, he retired from international cricket in 2020, did not play competitive cricket in the lead up to the mega auction with his last competitive appearance coming in IPL 2021. The decline of Raina's stocks in the IPL was evident when he was dropped from the CSK XI for the business end of the last season.
Raina placed his base price at Rs 2 crore and despite some teams being on short supply for Indian batters, no one went for him over the 2 days of the mega auction.
