IPL 2021: Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum acknowledged the difficult Covid-19 situation in India and promised that the 2-time champions will play a brand of cricket that will "give people something to look forward to" even if it's for only 4 hours in these difficult times.
Former New Zealand captain and Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum addressed the team and his support staff in a dressing room video after their win over Punjab Kings in Match 21 of IPL 2021, acknowledging the grim situation outside the bio-bubbles of the tournament due to the 2nd wave of Covid-19. Brendon McCullum said cricketers are privileged to be playing the Indian Premier League at the moment and said it's important that they play a brand of cricket that will make people hopeful even if it's for 4 hours a day. McCullum's comments come even as a few overseas players pulled out of IPL 2021 due to personal reasons in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Rajasthan Royals pacer Andrew Tye, batsman Liam Livingstone and Royal Challengers Bangalore stars Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson withdrew from the tournament over the course of the last week.More Related News
