IPL 2021: R Ashwin absolutely correct, what he did was well within the rules, says Gautam Gambhir

IPL 2021: Gautam Gambhir said that Ravichandran Ashwin did nothing wrong by going for a run after the ball ricocheted off his teammate and that those criticising him are only doing so to gain attention.

Gautam Gambir, Irfan Pathan and Ajit Agarkar threw their weight behind Delhi Capitals' (DC) Ravichandran Ashwin in his recent argument with Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Eoin Morgan and Tim Southee.

Morgan was miffed when Ashwin went for a run after the ball had hit his batting partner and captain Rishabh Pant. Ashwin later celebrated animatedly when he dismissed Morgan and his actions drew polarised responses from former cricketers. Australia spin great Shane Warne wasn't too impressed by it, calling the incident "disgraceful" but Gambhir lashed out at those criticising Ashwin.
