Indian Premier League: Defending champions Mumbai Indians have played not won a single opening fixture since 2013. Even though they have won five IPL titles since and the opening fixture jinx has continued for 8 years.

Rohit Sharma’s MI stretched the record for most IPL titles with their fifth win last year and will be looking to do the same in IPL 2021 to complete a hat trick of triumphs. But Mumbai Indians, who won their first title 8 years ago, had lost their opening fixture that year under Ricky Ponting’s captaincy. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their opening fixture at home by 2 runs against Mumbai.
